KTM strengthening its street bike segment

American named VP of new Street Bike Division
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Sep. 24, 2009
KTM North America has formed a new division focusing on the on-road motorcycle market.

The new division will focus on developing a premium street bike brand for KTM, a company better known for its off-road motorcycles. KTMs current street bike lineup includes the Duke, Super Duke and the 1190 RC8.

Building our street business is a key strategy in our long-term business plans, says Jon-Erik Burleson, president of KTM. Despite any existing market conditions, we are in the business for the long haul and see our premium European street product lineup as crucial for the financial strength of both KTM and our dealers.

KTM sees its on-road products like the 1190 RC8 as a key to long-term success in North America.
American Brad Hagi has been appointed vice president of KTM North Americas Street Bike Division. An Illinois State University engineering graduate, Hagi has 20 years of experience in the motorcycle industry, including 11 years with Ducati, most recently as the Italian companys director of distributor sales worldwide.

Brads experience in the sport bike market speaks for itself, says Burleson. With his time spent living and working in Europe added to his experience here in the U.S., he brings the perfect balance to achieve KTMs goal of being a successful European premium sport street brand in North America.
