KTM has signed Mike Alessi to race with Tommy Searle in the 2010 AMA Motocross season.

Holeshot specialist Alessi will race the 450 Motocross class while Searle will race in 250 Motocross Lites for the factory Jagermeister-sponsored KTM team which will be run out of Austria. KTM will not race in the 2010 AMA Supercross season however.

Racing for Suzuki, Alessi led the 2009 AMA Motocross championship after the opening three rounds before breaking his kneecap during practice. Alessi raced with KTM 2004-2007 before joining Suzuki in 2008.

KTM says its research and development team will focus on the companys 250cc and 450cc models but Alessi is reportedly working with KTM on a new 350cc motorcycle.

Mike Alessi is returning to KTM to race the 2010 AMA Motocross season.

British racer Searle finished sixth in the 2009 Motocross Lites standings in his first season with KTMs AMA team. Before starting his AMA racing career, Searle finished second in the 2007 and 2008 MX2 World Motocross championships for KTM.

KTM Off-Road Racing Director Pit Beirer will handle team operations while Casey Lytle will serve as team manager.
