Reigning MX1 World Champion Tony Cairoli earned the first competition victory for the KTM 350SX-F with a win Feb. 7 at the Starcross International at Italys Mantova circuit.

Riding the new fuel-injected 350cc KTM machine against 450cc competition, Cairoli took the first two finals with a third-place finish in the third to clinch the overall victory.

It was a fantastic start for me and I enjoyed riding the 350 bike, says Cairoli. Today I wanted to do some tests to see how it went at the start and everything went well for me. Im happy with the bike and the results today and its always a terrific atmosphere here at Mantova.

Tony Cairoli was victorious in the KTM 350SX-F's debut race.

Unveiled at the 2009 EICMA show in Milan, the KTM 350SX-F uses a new chassis, frame and pro lever linkage system developed by KTM R&D and motocross legend Stefan Everts.

The Mantova Starcross is the first of several pre-season races for Cairoli and the factory Red Bull KTM Racing team. American Mike Alessi was also scheduled to compete on the 350SX-F but withdrew after injuring his shoulder a week before the race.

Mike Alessi opted not to race due to a sore shoulder.

Alessi will compete for KTM in the 2010 AMA Motocross championship while Cairoli will try to defend his MX1 title.
