Kawasaki to race AMA Daytona Sportbike

Factory and Attack teams merge

Kawasaki is merging its AMA road racing teams to compete in the AMA Daytona Sportbike class.

The manufacturer announced it is combining its factory team with the Attack Kawasaki team which finished one-two in the 2007 and 2008 Daytona 200 races. For 2009, Kawasaki will focus entirely on the Daytona Sportbike class starting with the Mar. 6 Daytona 200.

Our approach to winning is the same, says Mike Preston, Kawasaki road racing manager. Were going into the 2009 season with the Monster Energy Attack Kawasaki team that will continue to place our best racers and machines on top of the box.

Roger Hayden will race for the Monster Energy Attack Kawasaki team.
Roger Hayden will ride for the combined Monster Energy Attack Kawasaki team on the 2009 Ninja ZX-6R. Hayden will be joined by a second rider to be named later.

Hayden raced for Kawasakis factory team in 2008 with three-time AMA champion Jamie Hacking. Steve Rapp and Chaz Davies raced for Attack Kawasaki in 2008.
