Recall notices for a BMW sport-tourer, a Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide and a Dealer Leather helmet were filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in July.

BMW of North America is recalling 2007-2009 R1200RT sport-touring motorcycles. The front brake lines of the affected motorcycles may become strained and could develop a leak. If left unnoticed, the front brakes may fail.

BMW has not provided the number of units potentially affected by the recall, nor provided a remedy to the issue. Owners may contact BMW at 1-800-831-1117.

Harley-Davidson has issued a recall notice for 2009 FLTRSE3 CVO Road Glides equipped with Blade rear wheel accessory kits. Some of the wheels underwent a secondary heat treatment process twice. The secondary heat treatment may cause the wheels to crack.

Certain Blade rear wheel kits for the 2009 CVO Road Glide may be defective.
The flaw was detected by a machine operator for Alcoa Wheel Products that produces the wheels for Harley-Davidson. The recall notice affects 1,759 motorcycles but only 215 wheels have been identified as being defective. Of those 215 wheels, 90 have been identified as being in Harley-Davidsons inventory. The other 125 may be in use.

Harley-Davidson dealers will inspect the Road Glides affected by the recall and look for an R1 or R2 code engraved on the rim as part of the heat treatment process. Dealers will replace wheels with the R1 or R2 code.

EBL Enterprises is recalling Dealer Leather 500 series helmets sizes XS, S, M, L, XL and 2XL manufactured between April and May 2008. The helmets in question fail to conform to impact attenuation requirements as set out by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard no. 218.

An estimated 800 helmets are included in the recall. Dealer Leather will offer full refunds or replacements for noncompliant helmets. Owners may contact Dealer Leather at 1-201-230-6353.
