John Hopkins saga continues

Rumors abound for Hopper
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Jan. 29, 2010
The John Hopkins off-season saga continues with the former MotoGP racer reportedly announcing he will return to AMA Road Racing with Team Hammer.

Hopkins had linked to both Team Hammer (which races as M4 Suzuki) and MotoGP start-up team FB Corse. Hopkins has reportedly agreed to test with M4 Suzuki and a report earlier this week suggests Hopkins has decided to return to AMA racing. The report stems from a Twitter posting by Cycle World editor Matthew Miles during the Jan. 23 AMA Supercross round.

John Hopkins just announced to the crowd at Anaheim that he will race an M4 Suzuki GSX-R1000 in AMA Pro American Superbike in 2010, the post read.

The Twitter posting was picked up by several online motorcycle racing sources, but postings on Hopkins own website by his mother Linda appear to throw some doubt to the accuracy of those reports.

Did anyone actually hear the words out of Johns mouth, I wonder? Other than the Journos of course, reads a posting attributed to Linda Mama Hopper. I have only seen this posted on Cycleworld and motogpmatters.com the latter usually cuts and pastes their info anyway. Dont know anything about Twitter so cant say about that. I have not seen anything in other creditable mags. I'm not saying it's not true but it seems strange when John has not signed anywhere yet.

2009 was a tumultuous year for John Hopkins but so far in 2010, Hopkins has been highly sought after by teams on both sides of the Atlantic.

Meanwhile, FB Corse, first linked to Hopkins in December, appears ready to move on, announcing it has found a replacement, a top rider with proven experience and experience as a developmental rider. FB Corse did not identify the rider but indicated he will be revealed at the teams official launch in February.
