AMA Supercross rider Jason Lawrence may be suspended for the remainder of the season, but he will be racing in Vegas during the during the series’ finals weekend.

Lawrence has signed on to race the Maxxis MiniMotoSX at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. on May 1. The race, to be held the day before the AMA Supercross season finale, is billed as the world’s biggest minibike race.

Lawrence will race on the Brown Brothers Racing Motorsports 160cc minibike in the premier MME-12 expert 12-inch wheel class.

“While Jason’s no stranger to high level competition, we wanted to make sure he’s outfitted with the best, most competitive bike we could possibly create to line up for the MiniMotoSX,” says BBR co-founder Duane Brown. “Everything the Monster Energy/BBR Race Team and BBR Factory Team guys have access to, we’ve engineered into the #338 bike for Jason. And I think I speak for everyone not only here at BBR, but in the entire MX industry, that we can’t wait to see how Jason does against the world’s top mini bike racers in Vegas.”

BBR Motorsports has a minibike prepared with Jason Lawrence's #338.As the 2008 AMA Supercross Lites West region champion, Lawrence is eligible for a bye to race in the finals, though he may choose to compete in the qualifying rounds to get better accustomed to the minibike.

“Yeah, I haven’t really thought about that yet,” says Lawrence of his strategy. “I’ve got a couple mini bikes, but I’m sure they’re not nearly as fast as what BBR’s putting together for me. I’m pumped to ride it, really. Friday at the Orleans is gonna be a blast.”

AMA Racing suspended Lawrence for the remainder of the AMA Supercross season on April 20 for an on-track altercation with competitor Broc Hepler. Lawrence’s appearance at the MiniMotoSX gives the race some star power but AMA officials aren’t likely to be pleased about it.
