By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Oct. 06, 2009
Husqvarna celebrated the production of its 25,000th motorcycle since being acquired by BMW in 2007.

The milestone bike, a 2010 TE450 dirt bike, was produced Oct. 2, 2009 at the companys factory in Biandronno, Italy. The 25,000th motorcycle was completed days after the opening of Husqvarna s new headquarters and research and development center, Sept. 21.

I am very happy, that we can celebrate another nice event just a few days after the inauguration of our new Headquarters and R&D Center, says Rainer Thoma, president of Husqvarna Motorcycles. This underlines the dynamics the company is moving to. Despite 2009 being a difficult year for the whole motorcycle market, we look very positively to the future. We now have the best possible circumstances to create and to build new, attractive products at the highest level of quality and performance.

BMW purchased Husqvarna in 2007 for a reported 93 million euros from MV Agusta. Since the acquisition, Husqvarna revised its production lines. The new Biandronno facility is an important step for Husqvarnas growth, projected to produce 40,000 motorcycles a year.

Husqvarna opened its new headquarters Sept. 21 in Biandronno, Italy.

A great result has been achieved today by our factory. We produced the 25,000th motorcycle and engine since Husqvarna has become a BMW brand, says Giuseppe Manacorda, Husqvarna plant manager. We are very proud of this achievement. A huge amount of work has been done in these two years, the production lines have been completely revised, we installed a new quality service and the logistics operation is in the reconstruction phase. Although the global economic crisis has deeply affected our business field, the company decided to continue investing energies and capital to be equipped with the most updated production processes, in order to be able to play a leading role among the European motorcycles and engines manufacturers. It is also remarkable the fact that this investment has been made in the Varese area which is traditionally known for the high professional standards of its people.
