Honda pulls out of Suzuka 8 Hour
The decision to withdraw its factory team from the high-profile endurance race follows similar decisions to pull out of Formula One and AMA Superbike racing.
Though its factory team will not race, Honda says it will continue to support other Suzuka 8 Hour teams riding its motorcycles. The 2008 Suzuka 8 Hour race featured 30 Honda bikes out of 70 total entrants.
Honda has been the most successful manufacturer in the Suzuka 8 Hour, winning 21 of 31 races including 11 of the last 12. Most recently, Hondas World Superbike riders Carlos Checa and Ryuichi Kiyonari won the 2008 Suzuka 8 Hour riding a CBR1000RR.
