The museum will display several artifacts from the company’s 105-year history, including a 1956 Harley-Davidson Kh once owned by Elvis Presley, and a custom-made 13-foot motorcycle featuring two separate engines dubbed ‘King Kong.’
Members will be entitled to exclusive benefits including invitations to special events, discounts at the retail store and a members-only dog tag. The Harley-Davidson Museum will officially open in July, but members who join by June 1 will be invited to a pre-grand opening preview. As well, anyone who signs up in 2008 will receive an additional dog tag identifying them as ‘founding members’
“Membership will allow our visitors to get the most out of their Museum experience,” says Stacey Schiesl, Harley-Davidson Museum director. “Through exclusive events and behind-the-scenes access, our members will be able to connect to the museum and the history and culture of Harley-Davidson in a very meaningful way.”
Harley-Davidson is offering five different membership levels, including the ‘Open road’ membership which grants access to special sections of the museum’s website.
Other membership levels are available for individuals (nicknamed ‘Serial #1’), couples (‘Two-up’) and families (‘Wrecking Crew’). The fifth level, dubbed ‘Hill Climber,’ will include an engraved stainless steel rivet which will be embedded on either a curved steel wall or a special plaza on the Harley-Davidson Museum grounds. Each of these membership levels also grants free, unlimited access to the museum.
Memberships are available on the museum’s website, http://www.h-dmuseum.com/.
