Noriyuki Haga underwent surgery this week to secure a broken collarbone suffered during a May 31 practice at Miller Motorsports Park.

Haga, the ‘Sultan of Slide’, broke his collarbone in three locations following a collision on a hairpin turn. Despite the injury, the Yamaha Motor Italia rider continued to place sixth in the second World Superbike the next day.Breaking his collarbone in three places didn't stop Noriyuki Haga from competing in both World Superbike races at Miller Motorsports Park.

Doctor Arthur Ting performed the surgery on Haga June 2, using a metal plate and eight screws to secure the break.

Haga will have a week to rest before traveling with his team to Nurburgring, Germany for the June 15 World Superbike races.

Haga currently sits in fifth place in the championship standings with 122 points, 72 points behind series leader Troy Bayliss.
