FIM creates Women's Enduro World Cup

New series to compete at three WEC events
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Nov. 30, 2009
The International Motorcycling Federation is starting a new womens Enduro racing series for 2010.

The FIM Womens Enduro World Cup will be held over three rounds of two races, with each riders top four results over the six races counting toward the championship standings.

The new Enduro series is the latest FIM championship for women, following the Trial, Cross Country Rallies and Motocross championships.

The introduction of the FIM Womens Enduro World Cup once again highlights the FIMs commitment to promote women in motorcycling, says Beaulah Schoeman, president of the FIMs Commission for Women in Motorcycling (CFM), and this decision is of course warmly welcomed by the CFM. On behalf of the CFM and all women motorcyclists, we wish each and every lady who will be participating in the FIM Womens Enduro World Cup only the very best.

Womens Enduro World Cup events will be held during World Enduro Championship rounds in Italy, Poland, and France.

Amedeo Michelotti, president of the Enduro and Cross-Coutnry Rallies Commission (CER) cites the performance of womens teams at the International Six Days Enduro in stating his support for the new series.

Ludivine Puy was a member of France's 2008 and 2009 ISDE Women's Championship-winning teams.

The CER is proud of the creation of the FIM Womens Enduro World Cup which will give women participating in Enduro to be under the spotlight and show that this discipline may also be practiced by women, says Michelotti. This year at the ISDE in Figueira da Foz, in Portugal, no fewer than five women's national teams participated, and all competitors finished the race! We wish long life to this new World Cup and hopefully a big womens participation worldwide.

2010 FIM Womens Enduro World Cup Calendar:

  • 22-23 May Lovere, Italy
  • 12-13 June Kwidzyn, Poland
  • 25-26 September Noirétable, France
