EICMA 2010 Preview: BMW

How do you follow last year's Concept 6?

BMW announced it will unveil a number of new motorcycles at the 2010 EICMA show in Milan.

The German manufacturer isnt revealing what it will show at its Nov. 2 EICMA presentation, only saying that a number of BMW and Husqvarna motorcycles will have their world premiere at the Milan show.

One possible candidate for an EICMA unveiling is an updated R1200R naked standard with the double-overhead camshaft boxer engine introduced to the R1200 GS and R1200RT for 2010.

The BMW R1200R is due for an update, especially since its R-Series siblings the R1200GS and R1200RT received a new DOHC boxer engine last year.

BMW recently unveiled its K1600GT and K1600GTL at INTERMOT in Cologne, Germany, and the six-cylinder tourers are expected to appear at EICMA. The K1300 bikes were developed from the Concept 6 presented at last years EICMA show, and BMW may have another concept prepared for Italy.

The BMW Concept 6 was the star of last year's EICMA show. Can BMW top it for EICMA 2010?

The recently announced special edition R1200GS Triple Black should also be appearing at EICMA, as should the electric scooter concept from BMWs MINI brand.

Former World Superbike Champion James Toseland will likely be introduced at EICMA as a member of the BMW Motorrad Italia WSBK team. Toseland recently confirmed he will join Superstock 1000 Champion Ayrton Badovini on the factory-backed satellite team to ride the S1000RR in the 2011 WSBK season. The official announcement will likely come in Milan.
