Edelweiss offers three new tours

Guided journeys visit exotic locales

Motorcycle vacation company Edelweiss Bike Travel is opening three new Scouting tours.

Known for its upscale and luxurious tours, Edelweiss now offers trips through Iceland, Chile and Peru and a pair of tours that travel the American West coast.

Each tour follows a planned route, but riders will have the freedom to explore detours. A guide will accompany riders and a tour guide will follow in a support van. Tourers have the choice of hotels and bikes.

The scouting tour of Iceland will take riders through the island nations landscape that can vary from grand waterfalls and beaches to glaciers to deserts and volcanoes. Those taking the Iceland tour will have the option of riding BMWs new F650 GS. The Icelandic tour runs from Aug. 29-Sept. 7. Prices range from US$3,950 to $7,500.

Those riding in Chile and Peru will visit exotic locales such as the Atacama desert, which is 50 times as arid as Death Valley in California, South Americas largest lake, Lake Titicaca, and the ancient Incan city of Machu Picchu. The Chile/Peru tour runs Sept. 11-26 and ranges in price from $6,800 to $9,450.

Edelweiss offers two America North to South scouting tours. The first runs from Anchorage, Alaska to Seattle, Ore. and onwards to San Luis Obispo, Calif. Edelweiss will offer two of these tours, the first runs from Anchorage, Alaska to Seattle, Ore. Sept. 1-12 and costs from $3,370 to $5,990. The second leg continues from Seattle to San Luis Obispo, Calif. Sept. 12-20 with prices ranging $2,940 to $4,790. Those who choose to take both tours will receive a 5% discount.
