Switzerland-based Pegasus Race Team unveiled a streetfighter prototype based on the Eric Buell Racing 1190RR-B sportbike.

The Pegasus Race Team was EBR’s first customer, buying a pair of the 1190RR-B superbikes in January, and with rider Harald Kitsch quickly found success, winning the 2010 Sound of Thunder Championship.

After winning the championship, the team and German-based design company Gruner Engineering went to work, converting the sportbike to a naked streetfighter model named the Erik Buell Racing 1190 Typhon.

“EBR is working intensely right now on getting the new 1190RS Superbike model ready for production, which is consuming all our resources,” says Erik Buell. “We had been talking with our friends at Pegasus about our plans for a streetfighter model that would follow the 1190RS, and mentioning we could not work on it at this time. Pegasus asked if they could build a concept model to show, so we sent many CAD models over for them and our friends at Gruner to use to speed up the design process. They did a great job in a very short time!”

The Typhon’s front resembles a Buell XB12 including the small fairing and twin headlights. Control blades and air splitters direct air masses around the fork and frame with Pegasus Race Team claiming top speeds beyond 250 kph (155 mph) with the 1190’s 185hp engine. The Typhon has a claimed weight of 355 pounds, without fuel.
