While the overall North American motorcycle market declined in 2007, Ducati’s North American sales grew by 22%, which is up from the previous record of 8,200 bikes in 2006.
Ducati’s sales have been growing the past four years in North America, more than doubling since 2003.
Leading the way for Ducati was the new 1098 Superbike, the Monster family and the Sport Classic line. Ducati’s new Hypermotard, though it only arrived for the second half of the year, sold over 800 units.
“Ducatisti the world over had a lot to celebrate in 2007, with class-leading new bikes and unprecedented success in MotoGP,” says Ducati North America CEO Michael Lock. “Ducati North America is proud to be a part of the success story and we look forward to another outstanding year in 2008.”
Beyond bike sales, the Ducati Performance Department also reported strong numbers in 2007. Accessory sales grew by an impressive 109%, while apparel sales saw an increase of 42% over the last 12 months.
