The Desmosedici RR is set to enter production any day now, and this replica of Ducatis 2006 MotoGP bike has already set many an enthusiasts heart aflutter. With its 990cc V-4 engine cranking out close to 200 horsepower, the Desmosedici RR is said to be the ultimate expression of Ducati Corses racing experience and technology transferred to a road bike.

The RR has become the fantasy bike for hardcore sportbike fans since its introduction to the public at the Italian GP at Mugello in 2006. This sent many well-heeled Ducatisti to lay down big deposits for the first MotoGP replica ever offered to the public. The hundreds of requests received mean that the bike has become an immediate commercial success, says Ducati.

In fact, more than 1250 orders have already been placed for the Desmosedici RR. Today Ducati announced that it will limit the total number of the bikes to 1500, so nows your last chance to get off the fence and place your deposit for the $70,000-$72,000 bike, depending on the latest currency exchange rates.

First to get their Desmosedici RR will be the approximately 500 owners of the 999R who have pre-ordered the bike from the Borgo Panigale factory. Ducati expects the delivery of the entire production run to be fulfilled by the end of 2008.
