Ducati, Buell and BMW bikes recalled
Current-year Ducati 1098, 1098S and 1098 Tricolore motorcycles may have faulty rear drive sprockets. If the rear drive sprocket should fail while riding, the motorcycle may experience a sudden drop in power. As well, there is a possibility that the chain would become entangled with the chassis. Either incident could result in a crash without warning.
Replacement rear drive sprockets can be installed at Ducati North America dealerships. This recall notice may affect 3,614 motorcycles.
This issue may affect 1,579 motorcycles. Buell dealers will inspect and repair any of the affected 1125R motorcycles.
A material defect in the gearbox of 2008 BMW R1200 R, R1200 GS and R1200 GS Adventure motorcycles may cause the intermediate shaft of the transmission to break, potentially causing the transmission to seize. This may cause the rear wheel to lock-up or the transmission housing to break, causing an oil leak.
North American BMW Motorrad dealers will replace the gearbox of the 46 motorcycles expected to be affected by this problem.
