Ducati 848 sets sales record

Middleweight breaks 1098s record
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Jun. 05, 2008
Ducati North America announced that the 848 Superbike has become the marques fastest-selling model in North America.

Over 1,200 Ducati 848 bikes have been sold during the first six months since the middleweight was unveiled last November in Milan. Overall, the 848 accounts for more than 20% of Ducati North Americas sales.

The 848 surpassed the previous record of over 1,000 units set by its larger and pricier sibling, the 1098, in the same period a year earlier. The 848 retails for $13,495, compared to $15,995 for the base 1098.

The Ducati 848 is moving faster than the 1098 - on the showroom floor, that is.

Jason Chinnock, national sales manager for Ducati North America, credits the 848s popularity to its user friendliness, affordability and visual similarities to the 1098.

The 848 has successfully bridged the gap for those aspiring to own a Ducati Superbike as well as addressing the desires of our loyal customer base, says Chinnock. In addition, Larry Pegrams success on the track in AMA Formula Xtreme is driving showroom traffic as the 848 proves its a serious contender for the title.
