Ducati 1098R hits North America

Company's latest superbike now available in showrooms
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Mar. 06, 2008
The wait is over for North American Ducatisti, as the 2008 Ducati 1098R is now available in showrooms.

Unveiled at the EICMA International Motorcycle Exhibition in November, the 1098R features 8-way adjustable traction control, Öhlins TTX suspension and Brembo Monobloc calipers. The L-twin Testastretta Evoluzione engine boasts 180 horses to deliver what Ducati promises to be the closest thing on the street to World Superbike performance. All this for a manufacturers suggested retail price of US$39,995.

Special to North America, the 1098R will come standard with a couple of features that are not available in other markets, such as a full Termignoni 70mm exhaust system.

Each specially numbered 1098R will come with an autographed picture of the 2008 World Superbike riders. As well, owners of the first 300 bikes can register to receive two VIP passes to exclusive Ducati events held during the Miller Motorsports Park World Superbikes races May 29 to June 1.

Due to the limited number of 1098R units available, prospective owners are asked to register for a priority reservation at http://www.ducatiusa.com/.
