Details on new WSBK support series

ParkinGo European Series to use Triumph Speed Triple
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Dec. 08, 2009
A new single-spec World Superbike support series will feature the Triumph Street Triple 675R.

The ParkinGo European Series (originally named the ParkinGo World Series Trophy) will run at seven WSBK rounds in 2010, each featuring a grid of up to 24 riders on the Triumph Street Triple 675R.

The series, first announced in October, is organized by the Oasi Handling Group which owns the title sponsor ParkinGo. The airport car park network is also the title sponsor of the ParkinGo Triumph BE1 World Supersport team which competes with the Daytona 675, so its no surprise Triumph was selected as the supplier for the new series.

The ParkinGo European Series will feature a grid of 24 Triumph Street Triple 675Rs at select WSBK events in 2010.

The series is open to riders with a European Motorcycle Union license, but limited to six riders per country. Racers can register for the ParkinGo European Series by paying 27,000 euros (US$39,800), plus tax, before Jan. 22, 2010, and 30,000 euros (US$44,230) after that date. The entry fee includes a Street Triple with full racing kit, a test day and tires, as well as a rider pass and three companion passes. Racers can bring their own mechanic or receive technical support from series organizers. Motorcycle transport, between-race servicing and hospitality will also be provided by series organizers.

The winner of the ParkinGo European Series may be offered a wild card entry at the 2010 World Supersport season finale at Magny-Cors with BE1 Racing.

I think the ParkinGO Series is a brilliant idea and gives the opportunity to anybody that loves Motorsport to be part of it, says Garry McCoy who races for BE1. I have heard a lot of people saying how much they would like to be us, well now they have the chance to be themselves in the same involvement of the top riders and have fun at the same time with the European Championship.

2010 ParkinGo European Series Calendar:

  • April 11 Valencia, Spain
  • April 25 Assen, Netherlands
  • May 9 Monza, Italy
  • June 27 Misano, Italy
  • July 11 Brno, Czech Republic
  • Aug. 8 Donington Park, England
  • Sept. 5 Nurburgring, Germany
