DeCoster and Suzuki Parting Ways

Motocross legend leaving at end of season
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Sep. 02, 2010
Motocross legend Roger DeCoster is leaving Rockstar Makita Suzuki, the team he has managed for the past 15 years.

A five-time World Motocross Champion, DeCoster is stepping down as team manager of Suzuki s AMA Supercross and Motocross teams following the remaining two rounds of the 2010 AMA Motocross season.

The AMA Hall of Famer is leaving on a high note, helping Ryan Dungey capture the 2010 AMA Supercross and Motocross championships in his first year in the 450 class. Suzuki has won four AMA Motocross titles and three AMA Supercross titles under DeCosters management.

Roger DeCoster is a five-time 500cc World Motocross Champion and holds a record 36 Motocross GP victories.
In a statement, American Suzuki Motor Corp., the Suzuki racing team and sponsors Rockstar Energy Drink, Makita Industrial Tools and Yoshimura R&D of America thanked DeCoster for his years of service.

You can never replace an icon like Roger, says Don Sakaura, Yoshimura R&D of America vice president. However, with Suzuki and Yoshimuras racing DNA still strong as ever, and with the core nucleus of the team staying the same, we are looking forward to defending the 2010s championships. Roger has made great contributions with Suzuki and certainly has the utmost respect, friendship, and our acknowledgement of a job well done. We wish him nothing but good luck in the future.

Rockstar Makita Suzuki will now begin its search for DeCosters successor.
