Crafar Named Coach of European Junior Cup
The New Zealand native will coach the 14-17 year-old racers in the Kawasaki Ninja 250R racing series which will run at select World Superbike Championship events in Europe.
Crafar will provide advice and guidance for racers in the six-round series.
Crafar has raced in both the WSBK Championship as well as the Grand Prix World Championship. In 32 career Grand Prix races, including 25 in the 500cc class, Crafar recorded three poidum finishes including a victory in the premier class at the 1998 British Grand Prix at Donington Park. The lone win at Donington Park was especially notable because Crafar, riding a Yamaha, was the only non- Honda rider to win a race in the premier class that season, beating eventual 1998 champion Mick Doohan by 11 seconds. Crafar also raced five WSBK seasons, twice finishing a fifth in the final standings.
More recently, Crafar has been coaching young racers and track day enthusiasts at race circuits around Europe.
