Charity Track Day for Ovarian Cancer
Charity track day for ovarian cancer
The Georgia Ovarian Cancer Alliance (GOCA) and the South Carolina Ovarian Cancer Foundation (SCOCF) host the inaugural OvoCycle track day Sept. 29 at the Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, SC. The event will raise funds to increase awareness of ovarian cancer and provide education about earlier detection of the illness.
According to the American Cancer Society, ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer death among American women. The ACS estimates that one in 71 women will suffer from ovarian cancer and approximately 15,000 women will die each year from the disease.
Event organizers have prepared five donation packages ranging from a $150 Patron donation to a $1,000 Platinum contribution. Those who make a Patron donation will receive track day entry, an OvoCycle 2008 T-shirt and entry to a party the night before the event. Higher-level donations will also include raffle tickets, OvoCycle 2008 caps, Scorpion helmets and Michelin Pilot Power tires.
Those attending the OvoCycle party on Sept. 28 can take part in a dinner, prize raffles and giveaways.
Sportbike Track Time is the official Michelin tire vendor for OvoCycle and will donate 5% of all tire sales at the event to support the GOCA and the SCOCF.
Camping arrangements will be provided, but those preferring hotel accommodations, the OvoCycles official hotel, the Executive Inn will provide a special reduced rate for guests who mention the event.
