Over 500 motorcycles are expected to take part in the eighth annual David & Wanda Harrison Memorial Charity Ride on Sept 21 in Oakland County, Mich.

The event raises money for the Childrens Leukemia Foundation of Michigan, helping to provide assistance and support to those affected by leukemia, lymphoma and other related blood disorders.

If youve ever seen 500 motorcycles rolling down the street at once, surrounded by the flashing lights of the sheriff departments motor unit, it definitely leaves an impression, says event founder Chuck Fortinberry. People will want to know what this is all about. And hopefully theyll decide they want to be a part of it too.

The ride, escorted by the Oakland County Sheriffs Motor Unit, begins at Fortinberrys Clarkston Chrysler Jeep dealership in Clarkston, Mich. and ends 50 miles later at the DTE Energy Music Theatre for a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert.

The raffle prize is a custom chopper whose designs were based on drawings made by children with leukemia.
Entry to the ride is $30 ($25 for a passenger) which covers lunch and a lawn seat concert ticket and parking at the outdoor concert venue.

This ride is one of the most important things I do each year, says Fortinberry. The Childrens Leukemia Foundation of Michigan really provides a home for Michigan families battling leukemia and lymphoma. This ride, and other fundraising efforts like it, helps give these families the resources they need.

Dozer Cycle and Great American Chopper are donating a custom bike that will be raffled off to help raise money for the foundation. The bikes design was based off crayon drawings made by children with leukemia. Tickets for the raffle are $10 each.
