Canadian Hall of Fame Inductees Named

The enthusiasm for recognizing exceptional Canadian contribution to motorcycling is growing, says Peter Sheppard, president of the CMHF. We had many nominations from across the country and all types of motorcycling activity competitors, business people and organizations. We have a growing inventory of nominees, with more coming in all the time, which will see the Hall of Fame grow steadily in future years.

The Halls newest members will be inducted at a reunion banquet at the Renaissance Toronto Airport Hotel and Conference Centre in Toronto, Ont. on Oct. 25 to coincide with the Motorcyclists Confederation of Canadas annual meeting. The ceremony will be emceed by Daytona 200 track announcer Pat Gonsalves. Each inductee will be featured in an audio-visual presentation. The 2008 inductees will bring the total number of individuals and groups honored in the Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame to 34.

The banquet will also feature several special motorcycles on display and a silent auction to raise funds for the Canadian International Motorcycle Heritage Museum Foundation.

The 2008 class of inductees includes:

Audrey Alexandre of Welland, Ont., the first Canadian member of Motor Maids, Inc., the first motorcycle organization for women in North America;
Tom Faulds of St. Thomas, Ont., a racer, organizer and industry executive;
Gerry German of Brampton, Ont., a club and federation organizer, trainer and a motorcycle safety advocate;
Dave Goulet of Ontario and Nova Scotia, a trainer and motorcycle ambassador;
Robert Kelly of Caledonia, Ont., a motorcycle trials and motocross race official;
Ron Keys of Newcastle, Ont., a motocross racer;
Buddy Koehler of New Dundee, Ont., a racer;
Michel Mercier of Adstock, Que., a racer and trainer;
Doug Sehl of Stillwell Okla., a Canadian dirt track champion and mechanic;
Rudy Zacsko, Sr. of Edmonton, Alta., a racer, collector and dealership owner;
The British Empire Motor Club, pioneering motorsports club founded in 1928, and
Military Motorcycle Riders Canada, a group representing those who have ridden in service of Canadas armed forces.
