Bostrom and Hayes on R6 at Laguna Seca

Yamaha duo racing American Superbike and Daytona Sportbike
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Jul. 01, 2009
Ben Bostrom and Josh Hayes will race in the Laguna Seca round of the AMA Daytona Sportbike series.

With AMA Pro Racing sharing the bill with MotoGP, the two Yamaha factory riders will have only one American Superbike race at the July 3-5 round at the Monterey, Calif. circuit. Rather than take advantage of a lighter weekend schedule, Bostrom and Hayes will join the factory-backed Graves Motorsports team of Josh Herrin and Tommy Aquino to race in the Daytona Sportbike class.

Bostrom and Hayes will compete on Yamaha R6 sportbikes for the Daytona Sportbike race, scheduled for 3:30 pm PST on July 5. Following the race, they will swap their R6s for R1s for the 4:15 pm American Superbike race.

I cant wait to return to Laguna on the R6, says Bostrom. Its always a great race and we want to be in the thick of it.

Laguna Seca will be the second Daytona Sportbike round Hayes and Bostrom compete in this year. Both riders raced in the Daytona 200 with Bostrom taking the win. Hayes was among the leaders late in the race before crashing. Hayes has one American Superbike win this season, May 17 at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif.

Daytona 200 winner Ben Bostrom will ride the Yamaha R6 again at Laguna Seca.
Winning the Superbike race at Infineon was great but Daytona is unfinished business, says Hayes. And we look forward to another shot at the win on the R6 at Laguna.

Hayes, Bostrom, Herrin and Aquino will also be taking part in an autograph session from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm on July 5 at the Yamaha marketplace.

Bostrom currently sits third in the American Superbike standings while Hayes is in fifth place.
