Biaggi re-signs with Aprilia

WSBK Champion inks two-year contract
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Oct. 18, 2010
Aprilia has re-signed 2010 World Superbike Champion Max Biaggi to race in the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

Biaggi captured the 2010 title riding the Aprilia RSV4 in the sportbikes second season in WSBK competition. Biaggi scored ten race wins including four doubles to win the championship as well as earn Aprilia its first WSBK manufacturer championship.

Biaggi will be the first champion to return and defend his title in four years. James Toseland (2007) and Ben Spies (2009) left the series for MotoGP while Troy Bayliss (2008) retired following his third WSBK title.

Max Biaggi has signed on to race two more years for Aprilia.

Im obviously very happy to be continuing this winning adventure in World SBK with Aprilia, says Biaggi. After an exciting but tiring season, after many years of racing and many victories, it was only natural and right to stop and think, to reflect on such an important future commitment. And in my considerations a very decisive factor was, as it was at the beginning of this adventure with Aprilia, the fact that I feel so close to a team and a company which is so capable and so focused on the sports objective.

Biaggi will again be joined by Leon Camier who signed a one-year contract extension in September. Both riders are expected at the Oct. 27-29 test at Spains Motorland Aragon circuit to prepare for the 2011 season.

Max Biaggi will again be joined by Leon Camier for the 2011 season.

Now we need to prepare as best as we can for next season, says Biaggi. We are well aware that we cannot rest on our laurels and that we will be in all of our rivals' sights. But now I am also sure that we will be highly motivated at the start of the first race, with a bike which I have brought up and which I did not want to abandon, ready to die hard ... extremely hard.
