By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Sep. 22, 2009
Aprilia will unveil a base model of its RSV4 at the Imola round of the World Superbike Championship, Sept. 25-27.

The Italian manufacturer will present the RSV4R, a lower-spec version of the RSV4 Factory at Imola, Italy.

Few official detail have been announced but the Aprilia RSV4R is expected to have plastic panels instead of the Factorys carbon fiber fairing and Showa suspension instead of Ohlins.

Don't be fooled by the nomenclature: Aprilia uses "Factory" to label its higher-spec models.
What is confirmed is that the RSV4R will retain the same 1,000cc V4 engine with a claimed output of 165hp. Also confirmed are integrated ride-by-wire electronic management, twin injectors and racing-derived frame as the RSV4 Factory. The Aprilia RSV4R will also come with at a lower price.
