AMA-SX racer Lawrence suspended again
The controversial Yamaha of Troy racer was involved in several altercations with factory Yamaha rider Broc Hepler in Jacksonville. Their confrontations came to a head when Lawrence rammed into Hepler while rounding a corner, knocking him off his bike. Hepler was able to finish the race in 11th while Lawrence retired after six laps.
The AMA Supercross series is an International Motorcycling Federation-sanctioned world championship and the governing body handed Lawrence a $2,000 fine and suspended him from the April 18 round in Seattle, Wash.
Lawrence was on probation with AMA Racing, so the sanctioning body issued a $10,000 fine and suspended Lawrence from the remainder of the 2009 AMA Supercross season which ends May 3. Lawrences probationary status, which was due to expire at the end of the season, has also been extended a year to May 3, 2010.
