AMA Preview: Miller Motorsports Park

Yoshimura Suzuki has held an iron grip on the top podium spot ever since Jake Zemke won at Miller Motorsports Park for American Honda on June 18, 2006. With the tour returning to the Tooele, Utah, track, teams that arent riding a GSX-R1000 are looking to break Suzukis streak.

Unlike 2006 however, this years race will be held on the 4.5 mile Full Course. The new configuration is a mile and a half longer than the Outer Course, which will be used for this weekends World Superbike races. The new track is the lengthiest circuit in North America, surpassing Road America's circuit by half a mile.

Mat Mladin currently tops the rider standings at 242 points while Rockstar Makita Yoshimura Suzuki teammate Ben Spies is in second at 233 points, thanks to a four-race winning streak. Spies posted the top time among all riders during testing on the Full Course.

Monster Energy Kawasakis Jamie Hacking and his ZX-10R continue to improve as the British rider is fresh off of a pair of third-place finishes at Infineon Raceway. Yamaha USAs Jason DiSalvo also had some success at Infineon, qualifying in second to be the first non-Suzuki racer in the top two grid positions since 2006.

In the Supersport championship, Ben Bostrom is at top form with three wins in four attempts this season to lead the rider standings ahead of teammate Josh Herrin. Zemke will look to reprise his previous success at Miller Motorsports Park racing for Erion Honda.

Zemke will also look to extend his AMA Formula Xtreme series winning streak to four this weekend. Zemke holds an 18-point lead in the rider standings over Attack Kawasakis Steve Rapp, while defending series champion Josh Hayes is still looking for his first win of the season after falling 0.067 seconds short of Hayes at Infineon Raceway.

Honda will try to extend its winning streak after the manufacturer recorded its first ever AMA Superstock wins with back-to-back victories by Jake Holden. The two victories have edged the Corona Honda rider to within 12 points of Jordan Suzukis Aaron Yates.

SPEED will air Saturdays Superbike race at 10 p.m. EST and Sundays race live at 4 p.m. The Supersport race will air at 3 p.m. while the Formula Xtreme and Superstock races will be broadcast on June 3 at noon.
