More than 60,000 motorcyclists are expected in the port town, 94 miles south along the Colorado River from Las Vegas, for the 26th annual Laughlin River Run.
This year’s rally will include a custom bike show, a charity poker run, and the Ms. Laughlin River Run pageant.
Several local casinos will host the River Run Concert series featuring Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Blue Oyster Cult, Foreigner, Blackfoot and the Black Crowes,
“What makes the River Run so unique among bike rallies is that you can park your motorcycle when you arrive and never get back on it until you leave,” says Joe O’Day, Laughlin River Run organizer. “The Laughlin resorts make a great backdrop – first-rate accommodations, restaurants, casino gaming – and then, when you walk outside, all of the top-name motorcycle manufacturers, distributors, tradeshow exhibits and entertainment in front of you.”
The highlight will be the official River Run from Laughlin to Oatman, Ariz. along the Colorado and over part of historic Route 66. Participants can register for the River Run at Don Laughlin’s Riverside Resort on April 23 for US$45, which includes an official event bandana, pin and patch, as well as entry in a contest to win a 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
The Laughlin River Run was first held in 1983 by southern California Harley-Davidson dealer Dale Marschke. The event’s first run drew 426 riders, while over 70,000 participated in the 25th anniversary run in 2007.
