MV Agusta has officially announced the newest member of its Brutale product family.

The new 2011 MV Agusta Brutale (it will use a 921cc engine but is simply being called “Brutale”) is the newest member of the Italian manufacturer’s naked product line, joining the Brutale 990R and Brutale 1090RR introduced in 2009.

The new Brutale uses a new four-cylinder engine with 16 radial valves and an engine control unit inherited from the 1090RR. According to MV Agusta, the engine uses a 73 mm bore and a 55 mm stroke designed to offer a manageable power curve. MV Agusta claims a peak output of 129hp at 10500 rpm from the new engine, with a claimed 70 ft-lb. of torque at 8100rpm. The Brutale is also equipped with an eight-position traction control system.

The new Brutale’s chassis is similar to the 990R and 1090RR, with a steel trellis structure and lateral aluminum plates. The wheelbase is a bit shorter at 56.3 inches (compared to the 56.61 inches on the larger Brutale models) and the new single-piece seat is a bit lower at 32.48 inches (compared to 32.68 inches). The new Brutale claims a dry weight of 418.9 lb., and the tank holds 6.07 gallons of fuel.

According to MV Agusta, the steering head has been revised, promising improved rigidity while new suspension valving is both softer and smoother. The Brutale is equipped with fully-adjustable 50mm Marzocchi upside down forks with 125mm of travel and a Sachs monoshock with adjustable rebound damping and spring preload and 120mm of travel. As with the larger Brutale models, Brembo supplies the new model’s four-piston calipers.

Visually, the new Brutale looks similar to its siblings, but with the turn signals no longer integrated with the mirrors. MV Agusta will offer the new Brutale in two colors, black and white.

The new 2011 MV Agusta Brutale is priced at 11,990 euros (US$15,700). American pricing has not been announced but as reported yesterday, MV Agusta’s Canadian distributor has priced the new Brutale at CN$15,595 (US$15,317).
