2010 Yamaha FZ8 and Fazer8 revealed

European-only models debut in Rome
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Mar. 12, 2010
Yamaha Europe introduced the new 2010 Fazer8 and its naked sibling the FZ8 at the 2010 Motodays bike show in Rome.

Neither model, unfortunately, is likely to make its way to North America any time soon.

The Japanese manufacturer had been slowly revealing teaser images of the two models, but now full images and specs for the Fazer8 and FZ8 have been released. The Fazer8 and FZ8 will replace the FZ6R and FZ6 in Yamaha s European lineup.

The 2010 Yamaha Fazer8 and its sibling the FZ8 are not likely to come to North America any time soon.

Both new models use a similar frame to the FZ1. The Fazer8 and FZ8 use a 779cc engine with the same stroke but a smaller bore than the FZ1s 998cc engine. The result, according to Yamaha, is a maximum power output of 104.7 hp at 10,000 rpm and maximum torque of 60.5 ft-lb. at 8,000 rpm.

Yamaha says the FZ8 has a wet weight of 465 lb. while the Fazer8 tips the scales at 474 lb. Both models are available with ABS which adds another 11 lb.

The FZ8 replaces the FZ6 in Yamaha Europe's product lineup.

The 2010 Yamaha Fazer8 and FZ8 will be available in Competition White and Midnight Black. The FZ8 will also be available in Yamaha Blue while the Fazer8 comes in a slightly lighter Viper Blue.
