The Italian manufacturer went into “voluntary liquidation” in late September after reportedly being unable to pay suppliers since June. Under Italian law, this means Moto Morini is protected from legal action from creditors and is able to continue conducting business while they try to get their finances in order.
As if to demonstrate that it’s business as usual, Moto Morini has updated the Granpasso 1200 for 2010 with a number of small upgrades.
Like all Moto Morini bikes, the Granpasso is powered by an 1,187cc 87-degree V-Twin engine with a claimed power output of 138hp and 90 ft-lb. of torque at the crankshaft. For 2010, Moto Morini upgraded the Granpasso’s fuel injection system with a new map and relocated Lambda sensors promising improved response at low revs.
Ergonomically, the Granpasso’s handlebars are more adjustable than before while the seat has been lowered. The new foot pegs are made of a high strength alloy with removable rubber inserts for off-road use.
A new rear light alloy Excel rim and a tubeless STS system help increase the Granpasso’s load capacity to a claimed 950 lbs. For off-road excursions, Moto Morini is also offering optional knobby tires.
