2010 Kawasaki Z1000 recall

Potential for damage to front brake hose
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Jul. 06, 2010
Kawasaki is issuing a recall on the 2010 Z1000 due to a problem with its brake hydraulics.

According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the left front brake hose on the 2010 Kawasaki Z1000 may come into contact with the brake rotor under hard braking. Such contact may damage the hose, potentially causing a brake fluid leak.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries first discovered the issue June 15 after its European distributor received two reports of damaged brake hoses, though no accidents were reported.

The Kawasaki Z1000's left front brake hose may contact the rotor under heavy braking conditions.

The recall affects 1,161 units. Kawasaki dealers will inspect front brake hoses and replace it if required. Dealers will also reposition the front brake hose to prevent contact with the brake rotor.
