2010 Bimota DB8 unveiled
The dual-seat 2010 Bimota DB8 is less expensive and lower specced than the DB7 though it does have a more powerful engine.
The DB8 is powered by a Ducati 1198 testastretta evoluzione V4 90-degree twin, compared to the DB7s 1098 Ducati engine. Bimota claims the DB8 has 168 hp at 9,750 rpm and 97 ft-lb. of torque, compared to the DB7s 160 hp and 90.7 ft-lb. The 1198 engine was chosen to provide additional power for carrying a passenger in mind.
Beyond the engine, the DB8 uses less expensive parts than the DB7. While the DB7 has a carbon bodywork and subframe, the DB8 has plastic bodywork and an aluminum subframe. Instead of the DB7s titanium exhaust system, the DB8 uses a steel exhaust.
The DB8 uses a lower-specced Marzocchi fork and Extreme Tech monoshock, both fully adjustable. The DB8 comes with Dunlop Sportmax GP Racer tires instead of the DB7s Continental Race Attack tires. The brakes however are an identical Brembo setup as the DB7.
The 2010 Bimota DB8 is ticketed at 20,300 pounds (US$33,127), compare to the DB7 which retails for 23,000 pounds (US$37,533).
