The International Motorcycling Federation has released the provisional 2009 MotoGP schedule.

The 2009 season will begin as it did this year with a night race at the Losail circuit in Qatar April 12. Hungarys soon to be constructed Lake Balaton circuit is slotted for Sept. 20 in place of the Chinese Grand Prix.

The MotoGP tour will again make two stops in the United States, with the United States Grand Prix at Laguna Seca set for the Fourth of July weekend, July 5 and the Indianapolis Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Aug. 30.

Valentino Rossi, Casey Stoner and the rest of the MotoGP riders will be back at Laguna Seca in 2009 to produce some Fourth of July fireworks.

What better weekend for the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix than the Fourth of July? says Gill Campbell, chief executive officer and general manager for Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. We are planning special fan activities to celebrate and you can bet the American riders will have special leathers, helmets and bike graphics commemorating Independence Day.

The 2009 race will mark the fifth MotoGP race on the Monterey, Calif. track. In June, MotoGP extended its contract with Laguna Seca until 2014.

Indianapolis will host its first MotoGP race Sept. 14, 2008.
