2009 Honda Hoot cancelled

Struggling economy ends events 15-year run
By Motorcycle.Com Staff, Dec. 22, 2008
American Honda has cancelled the 2009 Honda Hoot due to the current economic crisis.

Coming on the heels of its withdrawal from AMA road racing, also for economic reasons, American Honda will bring an end to the Hoots 15-year run.

According to American Honda, nearly a quarter million guests have attended the Honda Hoot over the years, first at its original location in the hills of Ashville, N.C. and from 2001 to 2008 in Knoxville, Tenn. Over 1,300 volunteers help to organize events.

The 16th annual Honda Hoot was originally scheduled for June 17-20, 2009 with online registration set to open in January.

American Honda says it will seek new ways to engage customers during the current economic climate.
