Say Hello To The World's Most Expensive Harley-Davidson

Say it with us, folks: one point nine million dollars. Written out it looks like this: $1,900,000.00. Yes, that’s how much the world’s most expensive Harley-Davidson costs. We know loyal Motorcycle.com readers already have their opinions about Harley-Davidsons, and this one is sure to turn your flames into wildfire. A collaboration between Swiss motorcycle customizer Bündnerbike and Bucherer, a watch and jewelry house, the result of this partnership can only be described as wild.

The obvious next question you’re asking is what on earth can make this Harley so expensive? First the duo started with a Harley-Davidson Softail Slim, but from there things quickly turned custom. Like many custom Harley-Davidsons, the basic components of the motorcycle were either removed or replaced, and this one is no different. It’s clear to see the springer fork, naked tail, and revised gas tank. But what sets this bike apart is in the details.

First there’s the paint job. Bündnerbike says to create the iridescent layer of blue that’s so visually striking, the first step was to lay down a silver layer. From there, six more layers of paint were applied to achieve the look. The exact mixture and application techniques to achieve this blue remains a secret, however, as Bündnerbike are keeping it close to the chest.

Here is where things get truly bonkers. For many customs, the money is in the paint. While true here as well, the real bling factor (literally) is found in the custom gas tank. There you’ll find two custom chambers, one on each side. In the first chamber, which is covered by a domed-shaped piece of bulletproof glass, you’ll find a six-handled diamond solitaire ring. The size of the rock? A hearty 5.4 carats! And to accentuate the extravagance, the ring is surrounded by a another ring of diamond studs.

Oh, it gets better! Resting in the second chamber on the other half of the gas tank is a custom made watch by Swiss watchmaker Carl F. Bucherer, based on the Patravi TravelTec II, itself a $10,000 timepiece. This version gets custom elements on the dial inspired by elements of the motorcycle engine. Here’s the kicker: the watch sits in a special holder made from silicone rings to shield it from vibration. Let that sink in for a second; a vibration-proof holder was made to hold the watch. Which sits in a Harley-Davidson. Now we can start to see why the bike costs so much. Whoever buys the motorcycle will get a similar watch from Bucherer they can actually wear.

The wonderment continues throughout the rest of the motorcycle. Each bar end features a diamond-studded rotary ring from Bucherer, similar to the one sitting in the dome in the gas tank. Also, each vault on either side of the fuel tank is lit with LED lighting. You know, because the diamonds aren’t bright enough. LED lights extend down to the engine bay, where heat resistant versions light up the clear airbox, camshaft housing, and transmission case.

As far as custom motorcycles go, this one might top the list of extravagance and luxury – and it definitely tops the list for price. Love it or hate it, the more we look at it, the more we appreciate the handiwork that went into it (just look at those exhaust welds!). Even if it’s not our style. Take a look at the gallery below for more pictures of the bike and let us know what you think.

For crying out loud, its just a Harley Davidson. A Harley Davidson no matter how cheap is over priced. No matter how much you polish a turd its still a turd.
