The 2014 Yamaha Super Tenere brings a host of new features to stay competitive with its adventure-touring rivals. Key to the updated Tenere is a new cylinder head and new power characteristics, more expansive coverage from a new windscreen, and the arrival of an optional electronically adjustable suspension, a system similar to the FJR1300ES we reviewed last week.

2012 Yamaha Super Tenere Review

The ES model, for electronic suspension, provides 84 settings of adjustment, with three levels of damping with seven levels of fine-tuning within each, plus four preload settings. On our ride so far, the added wind protection is a highlight, as is the easily readable instrumentation. The new cylinder head and revised D-mode settings offer minor upgrades, with the 1199cc parallel-Twin supplying slightly snappier throttle response, an adjustable seat height and electronic cruise control. The base model retails for $15,090, while the ES has an MSRP of $16,190 that includes heated grips.

Looking forward to reading your take, Kevin. But it somehow appears to me that Troy may have gotten the better end of this to have gone to the Caponord launch.

Depends if you're more into adventure-styled sport-tourers or a true adventure bike. The Capo likely wouldn't have made it thru the off-road sections of the Tenere ride.
