Sportbike Reviews

Sportbikes offer the most advanced motorcycle design technology available and are designed for optimum speed, acceleration, braking and maneuverability. They have a more aerodynamic design than other classes of bikes and are a thrill to ride for experienced motorcyclists, especially in high-performance situations such as a trackday down at your local racetrack. However, comfort and amenities usually suffer at an inverse proportion to how quick they are around a racetrack.

2010 Vyrus 987 Review

The new Vyrus 987 flies high even in the rarefied air of ultra sportbikes. It marries a 185-horse Ducati 1198R engine with a hub-center-steered Bimota chassis unlike anything on the market. Our Euro correspondent takes a spin on this exotic among exotics!

2010 Kawasaki ZX-10R Review

Kawasaki’s ZX-10R has always been one of the most lively and animalistic literbikes of the bunch. These qualities define the big Ninja, for both good and bad.

2010 Ducati Multistrada Review

The versatile new Multistrada is set to open the Ducati experience to a wide swath of conquest consumers. The Multistrada 1200 isn’t just good, it’s good enough to be a contender for bike of the year.

2010 Honda CBR1000RR C-ABS Review

Honda’s CBR1000RR is one of two liter bikes from the Big Four to receive only minor updates for ‘10. Despite no big news, riding around on the C-ABS-equipped machine reinforced why we like the CBR so much in the first place.

2010 Aprilia RSV4 R Review

Aprilia's RSV4 Factory might be the most impressive new bike we've tested this season, and it blew us away when we tested it in our first literbike shootout of the year. But we wondered how good the standard and less expensive RSV4, the R, would be.

Moriwaki MD250H vs Aprilia RS125 Shootout

We loaded up the race-only Moriwaki MD250H alongside a revvy Aprilia RS125 two-stroker and headed off to the Streets of Willow racetrack to gauge the performance of these GP-bred tiddlers in a low-displacement shootout.

2010 Ducati Hypermotard 1100 EVO Review

It’s been a couple of years since we first experienced Ducati’s delightfully devilish Hypermotard 1100S. After having ridden the revised 2010 EVO edition – with more power and less weight – Lucifer proves to be more insistent than ever.

2010 KTM 1190 RC8R Review

The 1190 RC8R is indicative of the renewed push from KTM to gain traction in the streetbike market. Considering the company’s off-road roots, the RC8R amazes for its ability to be mentioned in the same breath as legendary Ducati.

2010 Kawasaki Z1000 Review

The new Z1000 truly is a sportbike that can entertain a hardcore sport rider yet be a dextrous and multifaceted motorcycle for real-world riding conditions. With an MSRP less than some 600cc sportbikes, it’s one of the best performance bargains available.

2010 Aprilia RSV4 Factory Review

Aprilia’s RSV4 Factory has become something of a legend in its own time. Now that we've finally had the chance to sample it for ourselves, we can see why it’s reached such heights. Join the MO staff as we get our first ride on the Italian V-4 sportbike!

2010 Ducati Hypermotard 1100 EVO & EVO SP Review

Two years ago we tested the very first Hypermotard and now we’re at it again. At the time we wished for a little more horsepower down the short straight and that’s exactly what Ducati has done with its new 1100 EVO and EVO SP.
