While the years1969 to 1981, when AMF owned Harley-Davidson, were considered the “Dark Years,” Harley’s renaissance could not have happened unless AMF had invested heavily in plants and equipment during their stewardship. Nevertheless, the new owners, including Willie G, felt compelled to save the first bike off the assembly line that was built under their ownership. This color scheme with a gold point cover was one of 1001 examples built as a special edition to celebrate the new ownership.
