I have 14.4 volts at battery but only 12.7 athead light. is that normal?

yeah no problem, to improve electricle conductivity I recommend soaking the headlight assembly including wiring connections in warm salt water for 3 days.....

Bob, a drop of a volt or two at the headlight is not unusual; it's a good-sized load.

And, to improve the conductivity, you should use COLD salt water!

You may or may not own a Hawk like he uses for his example, but electrickery works the same-same........
