Default You know why you won't see an aircraft engine..

Type certification. Subaru and Daimler (I think)tried for many years to get their aircraft engines approved for use in the US, and failed. Lots of arcane, draconian FAA rules to contend with. Just the FAA looking out for the little guy, right? Right.

Didn't Polaris introduce a 4 stroke b4 Honda?

What this world REALLY needs is a Harley Davidson watercraft. With apehangers. Can you imagine the impact it would have on the sale of black leather life jackets?

Also add Honda to the list, who had an aircraft engine prototype a few years back, but never went for Type Certification. Porsche had a certified engine, but it was a commercial failure probably due to price. Maybe Yamaha needs to develop the engine for experimental category first, or certificate the engine in another country and use FAA reciporical agreements.

Agreed. I like stand-up PWCs way more than sit-downs for the same reasons I prefer motorcycles to quads. MR-1 Super Jet: sign me up!
