It does seem ridiculously expen$ive. I bought a Garmin Etrex (handlheld GPS) for about $200 and mounted it to my handlebars. Ok the screen is kind of small, and it is only black-and-white, but it works well enough to keep me from getting lost.
It's also great for purposely getting lost when you feel like it. I am more willing to take a new road when you can look on the display and see where it leads..... |

Let's see. I've got 1500 bucks in my Bandit. 1800 for GPS hmm? I think I'll buy a mount for my palm pilot.

Terrible idea. It's another distraction while riding, and it probably can be used to track where you go, and you're speed. Not that I'm a speeder, but I'm against anything that can potentially give the government more power. Didn't I recently read something about a new road tax in Britain where the GPS system in your car would record how far you go, and for every KM you travel you get charged a certain amount?

What we really need is an inexpensive (around $100) pocket GPS that we can carry in the pocket and use it when we are really lost.

Had on on my BMW. They are not that accurate. I was checking my route and I hit a tree! Who should I sue first?
