Re: 2001 Yamaha YZF-R6
Well, I dont really know what to tell you guys about this whole DON'T buy a superbike for your first bike thing. I for one, am 18, a computer programmer, and own a 2000 R6. I'm EXTATIC about it!!! I put just over 8000 miles on it from June 1st to October 17th, LOVE to ride!!! I will admit I can see how these things are REALLY dangerous, and after an argument with my girlfriend one dark night I found out JUST how close you can come without actually falling and dying at 120 mph....Lucky for me I have good, young reflexes and a cool head under pressure, I'm writing you guys this post today. Now that's not a statement, I TOTALLY lucked out on not being a smear on the pavement 150 yards long, but I'm pretty sure the R6 did alot of her own saving herself. Modern Crotch-Rockets are very spirited machines, and quite tempermental. BE CAREFUL, especially with cold tires, the engine goes when you tell it to, regardless of weather or not your tires are gonna grip. But to all my young friends out thier living out thier dreams on thier first superbikes, RIDE ON!!! Keep the rubber side down and the shiny side up, never ride drunk, high, tripping ANYTHING, dont even think you can, cause you can't. Don't even THINK about anything when your on your bike except what's going on around you, cause whatever was right next to you half a second ago is either behind you or in front of you, keep an eye on the road, ANYTHING can cause you to fall, my boy dropped his new R6 this year rolling over a PINE cone!!!! Road paint is like Ice, railroad tracks are worse, oil patches, coolant pools, ANYTHING will make you loose that bike, keep your head up and your eyes moving ALWAYS. And keep that DAMN right hand under control man!!!! 0-60 in 3.6 seconds is my best, not the bikes best, but mine, and that's DAMN fast, so keep your head straight, or you'll get it taken off. This is JizzaR6, out

Does this mean that the R6 would be twitchy on the street as well.....?

Also, is there any sign of a fuel gauge on this wicked bike???

Gotta be blue for me! I just got a 01r6 with chrome rims and after reading all of these comments good, bad, dangerous....its scaring me to death. I traded in a Ninja 500R so this is my first real test as a rider. I think its the pasion for riding that we should focus our attention to and not so much the power. True one may be better than others but its a poor musician who blames an instrument. Just a thought from a novice rider about to die because my bike comes with 207 Dunlops and the yammie is a death thanks everybody!
