Go to a site like Kelly Blue Book 2004 Yamaha Motorcycle Retail Values & Prices By Model - Kelley Blue Book and/or find a forum that knows something about that particular bike.

And get a value for a 'Good' condition bike. The check above says $1160.

If it is in 'new' condition, you need to determine what that is worth to you and the buyer/seller.

However, don't forget that the tires (at least) will need to be replaced, along with other aged components.

I use N.A.D.A. Home Page. Seems pretty accurate; most of the dealers use it too.

NADA is close on most, but can be way off on certain models. It will give a baseline anyway.

NADA is the book that banks and credit unions use to make loans. Never pay over NADA price to anyone. Walk away.

NADA is the most widely used by all dealers. As for the differences between the Kelly and Nada it will always vary on any model from book to book. Is the bike new or used?
