Smile moving up and lowering

Hi there. I have just moved up from a Ninja500r to a Ninja650r - (more of a body style preference than a need for more power) and both bikes have been lowered by 2". It has made a WORLD or difference. I am 5'6" and was on tip toes on both bikes. The lowering actually gives my knees a little bend and I feel SO much safer and in control of the bike now. I bought both of my links on ebay and had my dad install them - he does this sort of thing. Dealers will of course do it as well. I agree with some other posts though, that going from a 250 straight to a ZX6 is not a good idea unless you have some experience with this type of bike. It is designed for a different kind of rider - more like racing. Also if height is an issue, keep in mind that the handle bars on the ZX6 are much lower allowing the rider to lay over more. Great if your 6' but it'll make us little ladies much less in control. Try sitting on one at a dealer and see if you like the feel. Good luck in your quest

Any of the ZXR's from 06-08 can not be lowered more than an 1 1/2. The exhaust ends up hitting the swingarm brace. The Hondas you'll pay a little more for the loweringlink because of its uni-link suspension thats from 2003 and up.
At 5"3 your also going to have to lower the front end of the bike aswell.
Also realise the bikes not going to handle like it once did. Uturns take more room and carving up canyon roads will be alot more touch and go.

Graduating from a cmx250 to even a 500 sportbike is a big step, going to a supersport 600 is a hugh step. Imho I would get a used ex500 or gs500 and ride the hell out of it for a year or two, then make the jump to a 600. I realise the two bikes I mentioned probably dont appeal to you but it doesnt matter what you ride, it's how good you can ride it that counts. Besides how cool would it be to beat up on some poor sole with your little 500 and they are riding a 600. Its a hugh step be careful if you go with the 600. Good luck!

In my opinion Ninja 500 would be good for you. I like its stable handling and friendly power delivery for riders, coupled with Ninja styling and willing performance for the more experienced motorcyclist.
