another factor you diddnt mention is cylinders 2, 4, 6, or 8 cruisers most commonly being twins primarily for the cosmetic value, I had an 800 twin for years and was never disappointed in its power even 2 up with winshield & luggage, now I have a 1300 v-4 and shift alot more often bacause the beast is so heavy (and possably geared differently) the only reason I wanted a "bigger" bike was luggage capacity and room to move arround on it a little
